Tiger Brands hammered as food firms scramble on listeriosis fears

(Amanda Khoza, News24)

Johannesburg – Minister of Health Aaron Motsoaledi has announced that government has narrowed down the sources of the deadly listeriosis outbreak in South Africa.

Cape Town - Tiger Brands [JSE:TBS] has confirmed a full national recall of Enterprise Foods meat products after Minister of Health Aaron Motsoaledi on Sunday announced that Enterprise’s facilities in Polokwane, Limpopo Province were the source of SA’s latest listeriosis outbreak.
Tiger Brands also announced that it has halted operations in Polokwane and Germiston, Gauteng to carry out cleaning protocols at those facilities
The company’s share price took a beating, at one stage dipping almost 13% to R370.30. By 10:06 the shares were trading 7.06% weaker at R395.00.
In note to shareholders released on Monday morning, Tiger Brands said the National Consumer Commission has ordered a national recall of Enterprise’s polony, frankfurters and smoked Russian products.
Since the confirmed outbreak of Listeriosis by the Department of Health in December 2017, Tiger Brands proactively amplified its testing for Listeria of raw materials and finished goods and also introduced additional hygiene monitoring of our processes, equipment, storage and waste areas at our facilities.
Tiger Brands said relevant samples were sent to an external laboratory for the identification of the strain, and results are expected back on Monday.
Our lives are in danger because of this deadly bacteria, we need to minimise the consumption of these products for our own safety and the community as a whole.

REGISTER TO VOTE FOR EFF, MBALULA URGES Twitter!

FORMER MINISTER OF POLICE: FIKILE MBALULA Mbalula was removed from the Cabinet in President Ramaphosa's Cabinet reshuffle. He has since resigned from the parliament. Fikile has one job, which is to lead the ANC's election effort- not making mistakes and cheering the opposition on. Newly appointed head of the African National Congress (ANC)'s election machinery, Fikile Mbalula, on the 9th of March  2018 "mistakenly " encouraged voters to register for the opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). EFF leader, Julius Malema seems to have been in stitches  over this glaring blunder by the man who has one job, which is to lead the ANC's election effort- and not boost the opposition parties. Understandably, some of the EFF Commander in Chief's fans were very quick to make fun of the situation. I alone am only wondering what this guy was trying to do by posting these tweets urging people to vote for EFF while he, himself is with the ANC. Link: ...

IS THE INCREASE IN VAT A GOOD THING FOR OUR COUNTRY?

VAT to increase to 15% from 1 April Finance minister Malusi Gigaba has announced that South Africa will see its first VAT rate increase for the first time in 25 years. As of 1 April 2018, the effective VAT rate will rise from 14% to 15% adding approximately R22,9 billion to the fiscus, Gigaba said in his budget speech. Personally, I do not think that this is a good thing for us citizens as goods are already way up there in prices. The finance Minister says this will help increase the countries revenues, but what about the people who have nothing and still have to feed their families with this increase in VAT? If this is done then social grants should be increased more so people can live an almost comfortable life not fearing of going to bed hungry because of this.  What do you think?? https://www.dailymaveric.co.za

Ramaphosa: We'd love Julius Malema back in the ANC

We would love to have Julius Malema back in the ANC. He is still ANC down‚ deep in his heart... The ANC is [his/their] home. President Cyril Ramaphosa EFF commander-in-chief Julius Malema is "still ANC down, deep in his heart" and wouls be welcmoed back to the ANC, President Cyril Ramaphosa said on Sunday the 4th March 2018. Meanwhile, deputy President David DD Mabuza also made Malema-related remarks on Sunday, saying the ANC would be better off with Malema inside rather than being the leader of the opposition party says Deputy president  David DD Mabuza. Speaking to the reporters on the day of the party's registration drive in Mamelodi, Tshwane, Mabuza said he would do his best to bring the EFF commander-in-chief back to the governing party. Personally, I think Julius "Juju" will go back to the ANC as in few years ago, he was spotted with the former President Jacob Zuma in a Lodge somewhere in Mozambique having a good time. So maybe Juju really ...
